Onioned Squash

This recipe is one of the best I've ever tastes.....if you like SQUASH. It was my grandmother's.
You need:
5 to 8 medium squash; washed & sliced

1 large purple onion; coarsely chopped

1 large yellow onion; coarsely chopped

1 large white onion; coarsely chopped

salt & pepper to taste

1 teaspoon garlic (optional)

Place all ingredients in a large sauce pan along with a cup of water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for approximately 15 minutes or until tender. Drain and add 1 tablespoon of margarine or butter.
Serve immediately.

I love squash, my husband is not a big fan of it, I guess after eating it so much in southern MN--but this way, he may like it. It would give it a different flavor. Can't wait to try it.
