Fisher House Donation Quilt

This is the Wacky Packs current donation quilt. Blocks were made by the pack earlier this year on a retreat. Random Red, white, and blue blocks were made and put together by all members. The quilt will be quilted soon and donated to Fisher House , which provides free or low cost lodging to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers. This quilt spurred a desire to make Red, White, and Blue quilts for ourselves. We are swapping blocks in February and then each Wacky will make her own quilt for her retreat bed. See some of the members blocks below. These overachievers are finished way before the deadline. We will use for the center a rendition of ourselves using a book by Amy Bradley called Quilters Yearbook . Using the components of many different drawings of quilters, you make a likeness of yourself. It will be fun to see the Caricatures we create of ourselves. --------------------------------------------------------------Kathy's Block Rhonda...

$600--A Very Successful Quilt Project

The WackyPac Relay for Life Donation Quilt was auctioned and brought $600. It was bought by a colon cancer survivor. A special thank you to member Annale for doing the applique and binding stitches and to member Kathy L for the quilting. Member Rhonda L made a notebook telling of the journey we took in making the quilt to be given to the new owner. Next years quilt is already in the planning. The theme is a surprise, but will be really special.

Relay for Life Donation Quilt

Today 5 of the Wacky Pac spent the day putting blocks made by all the WackyPac together to be given to Relay for Life, the Cancer Walk-a-Thon. There was much cutting and sewing and pressing going on, not to mention the usual talking and laughing. I want to post more pictures, but I just can't seem to get them to go in the right place. The blue (represents colon cancer) quilt will be donated in honor of our Wacky Pac member, Kathy Earley. The is the second quilt we have donated. Last year it was pink and given in honor of our member Jerri Hendrix. Next week we will put borders on it and Kathy L. will quilt it and have it ready by May 18th. This is a labor of love in support of cancer victims everywhere. We pray all kinds of cancer will be eliminated in the near future.
